Where Pilates Meets Precision

Pilates is far more than stretching. At its core, it is an intelligent system of controlled movement that retrains the body from the inside out - building deep core strength, correcting postural imbalances, and enhancing the quality of every movement you make, in and out of the studio. Our approach elevates this further. Drawing on Aimee's background across classical Pilates, barre, and athletic strength training, every session integrates breathwork, alignment cueing, and progressive challenge in equal measure. You will feel the difference from your very first session and see it within weeks.

This is not a group class.

This is your practice, designed entirely for your body.

What Is Cadillac Pilates?

The Cadillac - formally known as the trapeze table, was developed by Joseph Pilates himself as the most complete piece of apparatus within the classical Pilates method. It takes its name from the car that was considered the ultimate in luxury and performance, a fitting analogy for what it delivers.

At its core, the Cadillac is a padded table with a four-post frame supporting a series of bars, straps, springs, and a trapeze. This configuration allows for over two hundred distinct exercises, ranging from deeply restorative and rehabilitative work to highly advanced, dynamic movement sequences that challenge even the most conditioned bodies.

What makes the Cadillac uniquely powerful is its versatility. The spring system can be adjusted to provide assistance, supporting movement where the body currently lacks strength or mobility, or resistance, creating progressive challenge that builds genuine, functional strength. This makes it equally invaluable for someone in the early stages of rehabilitation and for a highly trained athlete seeking to address precise movement inefficiencies.

In the hands of an expert practitioner, the Cadillac does what no other apparatus can: it meets your body exactly where it is, and takes it precisely where it needs to go.

  • No two Cadillac sessions are alike

Before we begin, Aimee or a member of our specialist team will conduct a detailed movement and postural assessment to understand your body, its strengths, its compensations, its history, and its goals. From this, a personalised programme is designed specifically for you.A typical session may encompass:

    Spinal articulation and decompression

The spring-assisted bars and straps allow for a quality of spinal mobility work that is simply not achievable on a mat or reformer. For those experiencing back stiffness, disc issues, or postural compression from long hours at a desk, this work alone is transformative.

    Deep core and postural strengthening

The Cadillac challenges the deep stabilising muscles of the trunk, hips, and shoulders in ways that create profound postural change. Clients consistently notice improvements in how they hold themselves, in and out of the studio, within just a handful of sessions.

  • Leg and hip work

Spring-loaded leg springs and the push-through bar enable highly specific work for hip mobility, glute activation, and lower-body strength, with a precision of alignment that makes every repetition meaningful.

    Arm and upper-body conditioning

The trapeze bar, roll-down bar, and arm springs create a comprehensive upper-body strengthening and mobilising sequence, addressing shoulder function, chest opening, and the kind of upper-back strength that directly counteracts the effects of modern sedentary life.

    Inversions and advanced sequences

For experienced clients, the hanging trapeze bar enables advanced inversion work — building spinal traction, full-body integration, and a quality of body confidence that is deeply empowering.

    Breathwork and nervous system regulation

Woven throughout every session, intentional breathwork enhances both the physical work and your body's capacity to recover, perform, and respond.

This is Pilates at its most holistic.

Is Cadillac Pilates Right for You?

The Cadillac is one of the most inclusive pieces of Pilates apparatus - precisely because it can be adjusted so comprehensively to support or challenge the individual. It is particularly powerful for:

Those recovering from injury or managing chronic pain

The spring-assisted movements allow rehabilitation work to begin earlier and progress more intelligently than many other modalities. We work in close collaboration with your physiotherapist or medical team, using the Cadillac to support and accelerate your recovery with exceptional precision.

Clients with back issues, disc problems, or postural concerns

The Cadillac's spinal decompression and articulation work is among the most effective available. Many clients come to us specifically for this after years of managing back pain with limited results elsewhere.

Those who have plateaued with mat or reformer Pilates

If you have been practising Pilates for some time and feel your progress has levelled, the Cadillac introduces an entirely new dimension of challenge, variety, and depth. Many experienced practitioners describe their first Cadillac session as discovering Pilates all over again.

Post-natal clients

The assistive spring system makes the Cadillac ideal for post-natal rehabilitation, providing support for movements that might otherwise be too demanding on a body still in recovery, while offering a pathway to rebuild core strength, pelvic floor function, and overall vitality progressively and safely.

Athletes and high-performance clients

For those who train intensively, the Cadillac addresses the postural imbalances, movement compensations, and mobility restrictions that high-output training invariably creates. It bridges the gap between injury prevention and peak performance in a way that enhances everything else you do.

Anyone seeking the very best

The Cadillac is the apparatus of choice for clients who want the most comprehensive, sophisticated, and results-driven Pilates experience available. If you want to understand your body at its deepest level and change it with precision, this is where that work happens.

The Aimee Difference - Expert Instruction Changes Everything

The Cadillac is only as exceptional as the practitioner using it. In the wrong hands, it is underutilised. In the hands of an expert, it is transformative.Aimee Victoria Long has trained extensively in classical Pilates apparatus work and brings to every Cadillac session the same hallmarks that define all of her teaching: anatomical precision, genuine warmth, and an instinctive ability to read a body and know exactly what it needs in any given moment.

Her approach with the Cadillac is characterised by:

  • Individualised programming from day one - no generic sequences, no one-size-fits-all plans. Your programme is designed entirely around your body and evolves continuously as you progress.
  • The fusion lens - classical Pilates precision combined with contemporary sports science, ensuring your sessions are not only historically grounded but also informed by the latest understanding of movement, load, and recovery.
  • Deep attention to alignment and cue quality - the difference between a movement done and a movement done correctly is everything. Our instruction ensures every repetition is working exactly where it should.
  • A pace that honours your body - challenge is essential. But so is safety, recovery, and the long game. We progress with you, not ahead of you.

Our studio team includes specialist Pilates practitioners who share Aimee's exacting standards and work seamlessly within her method, meaning the quality of your experience remains exceptional whether you train with Aimee directly or with a member of her handpicked team.

FAQS

Q: Do you offer Cadillac Pilates as part of a broader wellness programme?

Absolutely. For many of our clients, Cadillac Pilates forms one element of a comprehensive, bespoke wellness programme designed by Aimee and her team. This may include reformer or mat Pilates, barre, strength training, nutrition consultations, and recovery support, all coordinated as a single, coherent approach to your health and body goals. If you are interested in a more integrated programme, we can discuss this during your initial consultation.

Q: Where are you based, and which areas of London do you cover?

Our private studio is located in West London. We offer home visits throughout London with a primary focus on Central and West London - including Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Holland Park, and Fulham and regularly travel to the Cotswolds for residential clients. Virtual sessions are available to clients anywhere in the world.

Q: Do I need any Pilates experience to start?

Not at all. We welcome complete beginners and adapt every session entirely to your current level. Many of our most loyal clients came to us with no Pilates background whatsoever. Your first session will include a full movement and postural assessment so we understand your body before we begin. However, it is recommended that previous Pilates experience is undertaken on the Mat & Reformer before incorporating Cadillac Pilates.

Q: What is a Cadillac in Pilates?

The Cadillac, also called the trapeze table, is a classical Pilates apparatus developed by Joseph Pilates. It consists of a padded table with a raised frame fitted with springs, bars, straps, and a hanging trapeze. It is the most versatile piece of Pilates equipment available, enabling hundreds of exercises that range from gentle rehabilitation work to highly advanced movement sequences. It is used in private, one-to-one Pilates sessions rather than group class settings.

Is Cadillac Pilates suitable for beginners?

Yes. The Cadillac is suitable for beginners as well as highly experienced practitioners. The spring system can be set to assist movement, making exercises accessible and supportive for those new to Pilates or returning after injury. Your first session will always begin with a thorough assessment so that your programme is designed appropriately for your current level, however, it is recommended you have some previous experience in Mat & Reformer Pilates before incorporating Cadillac.

Q: Do you offer online Pilates sessions?

Yes. Our virtual sessions are fully personalised, live one-to-one coaching, not pre-recorded content. You receive exactly the same quality of instruction, correction, and programming as an in-person session. These are popular with clients who travel frequently, those based internationally, and anyone who prefers the convenience and privacy of training from home.

Q: How is Cadillac Pilates different from reformer Pilates?

The reformer is a sliding carriage machine that primarily works the body horizontally, with spring resistance. The Cadillac is a table with a frame supporting springs, bars, and a trapeze, enabling a much wider range of positions, planes of movement, and exercise types, including vertical and inverted work. The Cadillac is generally considered more versatile and comprehensive than the reformer, particularly for rehabilitation, spinal work, and advanced movement training. Many clients who train with us use both.

Q: Is Cadillac Pilates good for back pain?

Cadillac Pilates is one of the most effective movement modalities available for managing and resolving back pain. The spring-assisted spinal articulation and decompression work that the Cadillac enables is extraordinarily effective for addressing stiffness, disc issues, and the postural compression that results from prolonged sitting. We work with many clients who come to us specifically for back-related concerns, always in collaboration with their medical team where appropriate.
